Generation-X Albums is a business of two brothers, Alex Standiford, and Jonathon Baker.  We started this business from the ground up, and personally designed all of our business cards, brochures, DVD covers, and of course, dozens of video montages. It has started out as a passion for all kinds of media and the need to bring them together to create a digital memory that can last forever. We are trying to spread our creations around the world to share,

Tell us how we’re doing!  It all matters to us, so post some comments on our blog, and let us know what you think!

Picture this: Your daughter (who from here out is going to be called Cindy.) is graduating this year, and you want to have a montage ready for her upcoming graduation party. You call Generation-X Albums, order your montage, and then start searching for photos. While searching for photos to put in your montage, you find a photograph of your daughter’s favorite pet. You think “Oh, Cindy loves this cat, I better add this to the montage.”

- STOP -

Although we at Generation-X Albums will certainly make your montage however you want, in my experience, if a photograph does not have the topic of the montage in it, why add it? All this does is confuse people, and break the flow of the montage. You can add as many effects, and cool transitions to a montage that you want, but in reality, the most important thing about a montage is the photographs. Making good photographic choices will make your montage much better. If you really want something in the montage, try to find a photo of that thing with the topic in the photo. (In other words, find a photo of Cindy, and her favorite cat together.)  You could even request that Generation-X Albums modifies a photo of Cindy to make it look like her pet is in the photo.

Now that you have your photos chosen, it’s time to think of what songs you want in Cindy’s montage. Suddenly, you remember that Cindy’s favorite song is Master of Puppets by Metallica. (Apparently, Cindy is quite the metal-head.) You Immediately write it down, to be played for the montage.

-STOP-

Once again, although we at Generation-X Albums will certainly make your montage however you want, but Master of Puppets is probably not the best choice for a Graduation montage. Although you should pick music that Cindy does know, and enjoy, try to find music that matches the feel of the montage. Listen closely to the lyrics of the songs, too. There are several songs that sound like one thing, but in reality is singing about something totally different. For example, take Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of your Life),” Its chorus says “I hope you had the time of your life,” and although you may think that as a sincere statement, listening to the rest of the song makes it quite clear that Green Day was very sarcastic in this song, and the song is, in fact, very negative.

In conclusion, always think about what you’re adding to the montage, and ask yourself “should I put this in the montage?”  If you ever need advice on choosing your photos, and songs, you can always ask us at Generation-X Albums.  We can help you.

We’re excited to present everyone more material from the upcoming football montage for Conotton Valley!  Below are a few of the photos, and a new demo containing more material from the montage.  Some of these will be used in the montage, but most all of my photos will be included in the DVD, for your personal use!  The Track

The montage currently will have the following songs:

Fort Minor – Remember the Name
Shinedown – Devour
Megadeth – Crush ‘Em
POD – Boom

Let us know how we are doing, and what you think!  Your opinion is very important to us!

We have an advertisement on display below. This is the beginning work for the ‘09 football season highlights. Please remember we are looking for song suggestions to add to the montage. Songs like AC/DC’s Thunderstruck, Hollywood Undead’s song titled Undead, and Disturbed’s Indestructible were some of the ones that have been suggested. We need the football players and the students that might want to purchase a copy of the final DVD to make suggestions for songs.

I have been listening to Slacker Radio a lot lately.  I developed a bit of a love-hate relationship with the software last night, as it was continually shutting down on me, and giving me several other issues aside from that.  Frustrated with the issues I was having, I started posting tweets, about my troubles.  In proper twitter form, I used a #slackerradio hashtag each time I said something about Slacker.  A few hours later, I got a tweet from @scottriggs, the Senior Director of Radio at Slacker, it said:

Tweetfromscottriggs

I did just that.  It turns out that I was running an older version of Slacker’s software, and the newer version had some much-needed improvements.  I am now merrily listening Slacker Radio, with no issues at all.  Shortly after my issues were taken care of, I made sure to send another tweet hashtagging #slackerradio, telling everyone that my issues were fixed, as well as thanking Scott Riggs for helping me.

Twitter made this happen.  I was not trying to get a hold of anyone about my problems with Slacker Radio.  I was merely posting tweets about what was going on with me at that moment.  Had I not been posting those tweets about Slacker, I probably would have never checked for customer support, and probably would have quit using Slacker Radio all together.

Record Numbers!

Author: Alex

Generation-X Albums has seen record amounts of traffic this month.  We would like to thank everyone for visiting our website.  We hope you check back often to see if we have any updates, or new changes.  You could also become a fan of our Facebook page, as we update that frequently.

In my personal experience with Generation-X Albums, I have come to find the importance of a website, and the time it takes to make sure that the website looks professional, still holds function, and most importantly, is known by the general public.  I owe a lot of thanks to a friend of mine, Mike Mock, for his advice, and knowledge about building a website.  Check out his blog page here. Although me and my brother built the entire site on our own, a lot of what I know is thanks to him.
